HR Generalist

Full-time; remote (US-based)

Summary

The deterioration of social and institutional trust is accelerating; people in communities everywhere are tired of speaking up and not feeling heard. Surveys and focus groups rarely capture the rich breadth of people’s lived experiences. Local in-person forums such as town halls and open meetings fall short as civic spaces, attracting the usual attendees in what are often inadequate efforts to capture the full range of community input.

These times demand better listening channels and stronger civic spaces where input shared by community members sparks more informed and transparent decisions from our leaders.

Cortico’s Local Voices Network (LVN) platform brings people together in recorded small-group conversations around their lived experiences. Through a powerful combination of AI and human listening, LVN enables organizations to make sense of the conversations they collect, surfacing community voices into public dialogue and decision making – with authenticity, nuance, and transparency that surveys and focus groups cannot match.

LVN’s unique human-machine system is the product of an effort led by Cortico in cooperation with MIT’s Center for Constructive Communication (MIT CCC).

Cortico is looking for a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to manage routine functions of the HR department including recruiting and interviewing staff, orienting team members, and supporting Cortico policies, programs, and practices. The Human Resources Generalist oversees and manages Cortico’s performance review process and ongoing implementation.

Additionally, the HR Generalist covers day-to-day HR operations across the organization. Supports the Director of Operations and Administration on organizational culture building, compliance, risk assessment, and talent strategy and implementation. Leads process improvement and documentation for the HR team.

The compensation range for this role is $60,000-$70,000 and we have competitive benefits which can be found here. Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor visas at this time.

A note about culture

We think technology is best built by teams with a diversity of background, thought, and experience. Every team member is a human first, and we strive to create a culture and environment that supports your career goals and respects all of the hats you wear in life, not just the ones that earn you a paycheck.

About cortico

Cortico was created in 2017 out of a desire to transform our polarized and toxic national discourse into a thriving public sphere. As we built the organization beginning with deep expertise in media and technology, we realized that building a healthier public sphere would require not just software and data analytics, but also hardware and technologies for community building. The Local Voices Network was born of the understanding that it is not enough to understand existing behavior and attitudes; in order to affect the health of the public sphere – and our democracy – we must create experiences of meaningful encounters, deeper understanding, and opportunities to surface new possibilities.

Cortico maintains a strong policy of equal opportunity in employment. It is our objective to recruit, hire, and retain the most qualified individuals without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation or identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic or status protected by applicable federal, state, or local law. Our equal employment philosophy applies to all aspects of employment, including recruitment, compensation, benefits, training, promotions, transfers, job benefits, and terminations.
